The things people actually ask.
Fourteen questions, answered plainly. Where we are unsure, we say so rather than guessing.
How many Michelin stars does Frantzén have?
Three. It has held three stars in the Michelin Guide since February 2018 and was the first restaurant in Sweden to receive the guide's highest distinction. As of the 2026 guide it is still the only Swedish restaurant at that level.
Where exactly is the restaurant?
Klara Norra Kyrkogata 26, 111 22 Stockholm, in the Klara area of Norrmalm. It is roughly a five to ten minute walk from Stockholm Central Station. The entrance is a discreet, unmarked door with a bell.
What days is it open?
Lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Friday. It does not serve at weekends or on Mondays. Confirm the current pattern with the restaurant, as service days can change around holidays.
How long does a meal take?
Four to five hours is normal, and some sittings run longer. The same fixed menu is served at lunch and at dinner, so a midday sitting can easily continue into the late afternoon.
What does it cost?
The restaurant publishes a fixed menu figure of SEK 5,500 per guest. Beverage pairings are charged separately, and a realistic all-in figure with a pairing is commonly cited at around SEK 8,000 per guest. Swedish menu figures include VAT. Figures change; treat these as scale rather than as a quotation.
Is there an à la carte option?
No. There is one fixed seasonal menu and everyone in the room is served it. The menu is rewritten as the season and the produce change.
Can the kitchen handle dietary requirements?
Partly. The restaurant's published position is that it cannot accommodate vegan menus, or menus free from milk protein, egg or citrus. Other requirements are discussed case by case and the kitchen has adapted individual servings for guests before. Raise anything in writing, well in advance.
How many people does the dining room hold?
Twenty-three, seated at a counter facing the open kitchen. The building runs to more than five hundred square metres across three floors, but the seat count has stayed the same since the original Gamla Stan address.
Do you arrange visits or hold seats?
No, and we cannot. The Nordic Compendium is an independent editorial publication with no commercial relationship to the restaurant. All guest arrangements are handled by the restaurant itself through the channels published on its own website.
Is there a dress code?
Nothing rigid is published. In practice guests dress smartly, and a jacket or equivalent is normal at a dinner sitting. Nobody will be out of place in tailoring.
Is the building accessible?
There is a lift between floors, which is how guests move between the entrance hall, the dining room and the loft lounge. Anyone with mobility, hearing or other access needs should tell the restaurant in advance so the movement between rooms can be planned.
What is the connection to Zén and FZN?
They are sibling restaurants within Frantzén Group. Zén opened in Singapore in 2018 and holds three stars; FZN opened in Dubai in October 2024 and was awarded three stars within a year. Together with Stockholm they make Björn Frantzén the only chef currently leading three three-star restaurants.
Why did the original restaurant close in 2016?
It closed at its Gamla Stan address while holding two Michelin stars, to move into a much larger building. The current premises opened in the autumn of 2017 and the third star followed in February 2018.
Is a lunch sitting cheaper or shorter?
Neither. The same menu is served at both sittings, at the same figure, and lunch takes as long as dinner.
